Hiding the Statusbar Battery?

Would it be possible to hide the status bar battery all together and just have a percentage in the corner? Based on the theme I'm designing it would look significantly sexier if I could accomplish this.

I've tried the same thing, unfortunatly it's not possible. You can hide the battery, but what remains is an empty space which looks kinda ugly. I finally replaced the battery by a little apple

This leads me to believe it can be done and we just have to wait for a kind soul to dictate instructions.

Search Cydia for Battery Control. Works great! You will find the option in your settings menu after installing 'Battery control'.
