help ive bricked my i phone 3g

can any body help my phone is stuck in recovery mode i jail broke it using redsnow all went fine been working but i had a bright idea i tryed doing shift and restore on itunes as it was running a bit slow but i restored using 3.1 firmware i had on my desktop not 3.0 so now i tunes keeps coming up with errors when trying to get 3.0 on

can anybody help

Have you tried DFU mode to restore. Have you downgraded iTunes to 8.2?

when trying to restore it comes up with unknown error (1015) how do i find out what i tunes im running

I think 1015 is from mismatching basebands (not so sure about this.. I never really looked into the error codes)

I think you are right actually. He tried doing a restore with a 3.1 beta and now is trying to downgrade to 3.0

If your phone is under warranty still bring it to Apple and get a replacement. Don't tell them what you did though...

There's always hope. Back when I knew nothing about the iPhone I downgraded from 2.2 to 2.1 fine even with the errors.

@OP are you sure you're going into DFU mode? You can't downgrade without DFU.

I hate to be a negative nancy but there isnt much hope...
The betas are un-downgrade-able
But I will mess with one of my testers for a while and see if there is any possible way

Put the phone in DFU mode and restore to 3.0. You will get a 1015 or 1016 error. Jailbreak right from that point. The OS has been restored at this point, iTunes just doesn't like the mismatching basebands. After the jailbreak (and sometimes before) you might have to run irecovery to tell your phone to boot out of recovery.
