Need help texting to australia...

So my friend lives in australia. I am in atlanta georgia and i have the unlimited texting plan. So it should be free to text internationally right? Well her number is something like this:

+6143072XXXX

so how would i go about texting her? I have trued and it comes out like this:
+61 430 72X XXX

it looks wrong because numbers in georgia are something like this:

+1 770-427-XXXX

so anyone could help? Would appreciate it a lot if u could. Thanks

Not sure about the number format but I know for me texting internationally is not free. I'm on Tmobile and have unlimited text. What I was told was that I could receive international texts for free but sending them would cost.

I'm on ATT and international texting is NOT free, even with unlimited texting.

It is 25 cents per message sent OR received. Same with canada.

You would have to get an international texting plan.

Maybe try one of those free texting apps on appstore? i dunno, but you've been warned

yeah, international anything is never free but with unlimited text you can go crazy texting to US numbers. to text to australia, dial: 01161404xxxxxx
