You cannot put it into DFU mode while it is rebooting. Hold down power and home together until the iPhone shuts off. From there you can try putting it into DFU mode using this guide:
SSH on Windows - ModMyi - Wiki
PS: Why are you trying to restore to 1.0.2? Why not just upgrade to 3.0?

And a relevant title to your post might be more beneficial for you.
I don't think you will be able to restore to 1.0.2 on the latest iTunes. As stated above, 3.0 should go through without a problem. The Original Autobot of MMiJesus couldn't turn into a fire engine

Still nothing
I thanked NeoNightmareX for the attempt, but i am still having no luck....i am trying to hold the power and releasing it after the reboot but its still going back and forth....the reason i am trying to install is that the 1.0.2 version is what i believe is on her phone....HELP i am trying and no luck, i tried the ssh but the phone wont go past the steve jobs so thats the furthest it goes.

I always feel sorry for the guy in the iPhone commercials. He always gets a call right in the middle of trying to do something

^ OP stated that iPhone was not being recognized by computer and I think Neo may have posted the incorrect link. Stuff happens. Neo is typically on point and very iPhone savvy.

What did you use to jailbreak?
@neo alright. Happens to the best.
Sorry if my reply sounded like it had a certain tone to it - I was just wondering

Method 1)
• Attach the phone to the pc
• Turn the phone off
• Hold power and home together for *exactly* 10 seconds
• Release power but keep holding home until the pc beeps as a USB device is recognized.
• At no point will the display come on. Now your restore should work.
Having problems? Try adjusting the 10 seconds to be slightly less like 9 seconds, then 8, then 7. It’s a tricky timing but you will eventually get it.
Method 2)
• Hook up the phone powered on to the PC
• Now hold home / power until the phone turns off and keep holding for 10 seconds. If the phone ever turns on during this phase, start over and hold for less time.
• Now release power and continue holding home until the PC recognizes the phone.
• I don’t like this method as much because there are “rumors” that it may cause some 1604 errors in the restore. I am not convinced of that though.
Method 3)
• Attach the phone to the pc
• Turn the phone off
• Press and hold power. Keep holding power. As soon as you see display on the screen of any sort press and hold home.
• Hold power and home together for *exactly* 10 seconds
• Release power but keep holding home until the pc beeps as a USB device is recognized.
• At no point will the display come on. Now your restore should work.

Have MAC OSX 10.5.6 or aMAC Book slim? You have a problem entering DFU mode. Here is an easy fix from the dev-team blog:
1. You will need an account with ADC (Apple Developer Connection) this is free and takes a few minutes to sign up, you should read the terms and conditions carefully and you should only sign up if you are thinking of developing applications in the future - Apple Developer Connection - Mac Dev Center
2. Download the disk image
“IOUSBFamily Log release for Mac OS X 10.5.5 Build 9F33” (yes, that is a “5” in 10.5.5 - this is a developer debug package of the USB kernel extension).
3. Install IOUSBFamily-315.4.1.pkg from within the disk image
4. Reboot your system.Last edited by blkcadi; 07-26-2009 at 07:43 PM.

Try a different USB cord and Port on you computer or another computer. Where there's a will there's a way.
And yeah, I'm right next door, lmao. How would we know where you live.
Stick with it, it should work. Take a deep breathe. If for some reason you can't get in DFU mode with all the alternatives I gave you. You may have a more serious problem. Did I scare you? No worries. DFU mode is you savior.Last edited by blkcadi; 07-26-2009 at 08:02 PM.

What version of iTunes are you using? What J/B method are you trying?
Doesn't matter if you have never synced that phone with your iTunes, once it is in DFU mode iTunes will see it and restore.

She may have been using a different version of iTunes.
Get that puppy in DFU and update to 3.0 with iTunes 8.2
