Iphone getting really hot while charging?

I just updated my 1st generation iphone firmware from 1.1.4 to 3.0. After a day or two of use I noticed that when I charge my phone, it gets hot. I'm worried that it might ruin my phone, and does it have to do downloading applications from itunes, or "apps" and such from Cydia?

Is this happening to anyone?

i had this issue with different iphones to me its mainly because of to many things running in the back ground or i have notice that if my battery is low and i have alot of apps it gets hot when charging until it charges complety ....dont know why

Hmmm, this is the first time that the phone has gotten hot while charging...
