phone app help!

As stated in another thread, the mic on my phone isn't working properly. It works in every mode but normal. It seems obvious its a software problem, and I can't seem to fix it by restoring.

Sooo, I was thinking, is there any way to re-install the phone application? Me thinks it maybe, just maybe could fix my problem.
And if so, how? I'm not all that iphone tech savvy, but I can always get a friend to help it its a hard task.
