hi i juts got the new 3.0 firmware for my itouch 2g.

ok so you know how u double click to bring up the ipod controls anywhere like this ?

ehhh that doesnt work for me. what file do i have to edit so that can work

when i double click it brings me to the home page. and its really annoying because i want to be able to change the songs.

I'm writing this post assuming that you are on Windows. Go to this guide: SSH on Windows - ModMyi - Wiki

Follow it so that you get the basics of SSHing.

Then navigate to "/private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences"and locate the file called "com.apple.springboard.plist"

Download that file onto your computer and edit it with Pledit.exe. I attached the file in my post. Then hit Ctrl+F and type DoubleTap and hit enter to see if it is written in that file. If not just copy and paste that code into your file and then SSH it back into your phone. Respring afterward. IMPORTANT: Make sure you make a backup of the file before you edit it.
