Default Anyway of finding out if I have a used iPhone?

I bought a brand new iPhone 3GS, but the touchscreen wasn't working properly out of the box, so rogers sent me a replacement unit, they told me it would be a brand new one and not a refurbished one. But when I got it today, the home button and the lock button feel worn out. Is there anyone of knowing if they sent me a brand new one or a refurbished one? Cause honestly, if they sent a refurbished one I'm going to be pretty pissed off seeing as in I just got the Phone and it wasen't working out of the box..

    thanks..

Not too sure on checking it's used-status, but I know some just feel differently than others, even new. I'd call Rogers and see what they say.
