Dramatically Increase performance of firmware 3.0
I have tried something and let me tell you all it worked like a flaw
I have browsed over my iphone applications folder and found out that a lot of Languages are there exactly like what we have on our MAC OSX
Tried to use xslimmer as shown on another thread but it did not work
So decided to give it a try and went through Safari app ( Of course after I took a backup of the original )
and removed all the languages except english and french languages and then restarted my iphone
Safari works much faster and launches much faster and let me tell you
I did not even see the loading screen becasue it loaded much faster than before
Of course this is also reducing space
I am testing now on all apps but It is very hectic to go through each folder of applications
Any ideas ?
or may be an app or script to delete languages like (Xslimmer or Monolingual )

That sounds very intriguing. Would you mind posting detailed instructions on how do do this, including how and where you go to make a backup of the apps before editing them. Thanks for the info, and help!

Ah crap. I deleted the files like you said on safari and it ran really awesome. So then I deleted some folders from the MobileMail.app folder, but now the mail app won't open. I put the files I had backedup back in the folder, and it still won't open. Any suggestions?

Thank you all
Be carefull when deleting all I am still in testing all applications
Delete only the languages you dont use not any other file
for example the folder (ar.lproj) relates to arabic while the folder (Italian.lproj) is italian
For KarioDude when backing up an application and then copying it back it looses permissions so just fix the permissions again like any other application and it will work
cause it happened to me too and it worked

Having no idea what I was doing I decided to give it a bash.
Wnscp in to the phone go to applications and find Safari.
Loads of folders with lproj extension so I just deleted them all except English.lproj and it seems to work.
Maybe I should have backed up first...Last edited by confucious; 07-22-2009 at 04:50 AM. Reason: typo

^ lol. If it works I will get it on a repo so it can all be done via cydia. I can make it so it creates a backup of the languages and places it somewhere on the media partition.

That would be great SB!

However, if it works make sure it's clearly labelled that it gets rid of EVERYTHING except English - otherwise this forum will explode with people complaining they can no longer convert it to give it to their pet Oompa Loompa to use etc.
Also don't forget to leave the Japanese keyboard! I like my Emoji's!

A quick and dirty solution would suit English speakers but then come the requests to be able to select which languages you want kept.
For me, I need to be able to keep:
1) English
2) Double Dutch
3) BullSh!tHe who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.
