My phone is now 4 weeks old and I have to go to the Apple store today for a warranty swap... what a pain in the butt! The left side of my screen is becoming unresponsive. I can't type a "1", "Q", "-", "_", and the "a" button only works half the time. A full restore did nothing of course as this is hardware related. GRRRRR!
Don't fret, when I bought my first iPhone years back I got it straight from the AT&T store and the entire digitizer was dead. Couldn't access the touch screen at all. Factory defaults happen, you figure out of a million some phones a few gotta be bad runs.
