Problem with iphone

When I turn on my iphone it tells me to connect to itunes. When I connect it it tells me to restore. It'll go through all the extracting and says it's updating and restoring the phone then I get an error. It says: The iphone could not be restored an unknown error has occurred (1603). Whats the deal here?

try it again...i happened to me once.
If it still doesnt work, you might have to go exchange for a new one...or bring it to Apple store and have them to restore it for you.

I've tried to restore like four times and I get the same message everytime.

I'm trying app tapp now. It freezes on stage 1:2 attempting to boot iphone in normal mode. Man, I think I bricked it.
