New iPhone 3g
Got my 3G today, but before i swap over my sim I have a few questions
1st up can I do a restore of my 2g iPhone on to my 3g iPhone?
if no to that, where can I find my wifi codes and notes etc if I ssh in. I have so many wifi codes Ive picked up over the last 2 years, I realy dont want to have to go and collect them all again.iPhone 3G Jail broken 4.2.1 - redsn0w

if you sync your 2g before swapping sims then restore your 3g from the backup all your wifi passwords should transfer over

You can restore your 3G from the 2G backup, but it really is not recommended and you will only run into problems in the long run.
Setting up as a new phone and then reentering your wifi codes is the best option. I have never heard of a way to SSH your wifi passwords over. The Original Autobot of MMiJesus couldn't turn into a fire engine

I restored my 2g to 3g, no problems yet that ive found.
Notes transfered over, messages, even the hidden icons (stocks, contacts) from when bossprefs was installed on the 2G.
no wifi codes though, have had to re-enteriPhone 3G Jail broken 4.2.1 - redsn0w

If your phone was jailbroken before, and you restore and then restore the backup from the old phone, and jailbreak again, you lose approx 500mb of your phones capacity to the old jailbreak. setting up as a new phone solves this aswell
