Ending calls??

Probably a very easy question.

Anyway whenever I make a phonecall and want to end it, whenever I want to finish the call and end it the screen is black and can't complete the call. If that makes sense, sometimes the keypad is there but on most occasions its not.

I heard the wake call ends it but can anyone confirm?

Well whenever I make a call and need to end it, I have to wait for the keypad to appear so I can end it however, sometimes the keypad doesn't show up. Is there another way to end a call, I think the wake/sleep functions works as the same thing but not sure.
