Jailbroken 3G cant connect to AT&T???
Why cant my 3.0 jailbroken iPhone 3G connect to the network?

Make sure you didnt activate by the jailbreak process, but let your AT&T sim activate the phone. More info about how did you jailbreak your phone would be more helpful

You mostlikely do not have a data plan, as Simtech stated. Either that, or you might just be in an area that doesnt have a 3G tower, happens more than youd think.

Try resetting your network. Go to setting>general>reset>Reset network setting.
