iPhone 3G Jailbreak

I was just wondering if I could still use this process:

to jailbreak an iPhone 3G which has already got 3.0 on it. I was also wondering if having the latest itunes would cause any problems, because my friend has told me that the new itunes had a problem when restoring custom firmware's. Can anyone help clarify some issues?

I you just want to jailbreak, you would normally just use redsn0w version 0.8 to do it. After that, if you wish to unlock, you could just run a program from Cydia store.
