iphone 2g sim in 3g/s ( w/o jailbreak/unloack )

Hi,
I wanted to know if there is any way i can use my iphone 2g sim in a new 3G/3GS phone. I do not have any need for a 3G plan since where i live , there is no 3G . I want to keep my 59.99 plan + not sign up a new 2 year contract.

Is this possible ,, if so can i do it straight away on a new 3G/S or do i need a jailbroken/unlocked 3G/S ?

Please help ( my 2G's button has become bad , dust inside - but cannot afford to have a contract as I will be leaving the country in 8-12 months )

You'd have to at least jailbreak it to get past Activation if the 3GS Isn't activated
