Weird thing after tethering on 3G

I use the safari app on my 3G like crazy and it has allways been acceptable; since I enabled my iphone for internet tethering when I use safari on the iphone its noticeably slower, but if I connect it to my MacBook Pro it is as fast as my WiFi...
This is kind of weird; how can this be? Has anyone been through something similar? Help!

Safari on the iPhone will always be slow.. you have a 400Mhz processor trying to do everything. When you tether your laptop is doing all the processing.
