If I Restore My PC.. Will It Hurt My iPhone?
Will I lose all sync capability?
I'm prepared to lose my music collection on my own computer. That's fine. I embrace the challenge. However, I'm concerned that I'll need to erase all the info on my iPhone when I link it all back up.
And that scares me because it's so much work if that's the case. I'm talking restore, jailbreak, unlock, and doing it aaall again.
So please, tell me there's some secret connection between iPhone and PC that I don't understand that will save me from double work.
Thanks.

Transfering all purchases will save u a lot off work. Connect iPhone, when it shows up in iTunes u should b able to right click on iPhone and transfer all purchases. Just remember to deauthorize iTunes accout b4 u wipe pc, then authorize when u done ur fresh install

I actually don't have many purchases. Most of the stuff I have is on CD. My main concern is that I'll experience what I go through at work.
I plug in my iPhone on iTunes over there and my iPhone pops up, but I can't sync anything and my music collection comes up "grey."
I'm afraid that's going to happen when I restore my PC here. It's not a new computer, you know? Just my same computer with a fresh fix.
I'm scared.
Other thing is that my girlfriend's iPhone syncs to my laptop as well. If I have to lose everything, I don't wanna have to re-do her phone too. Between jailbreaks, unlocks, and re-do the phone the way we want it, it's a problem.

You won't have to JB or unlock again unless you restore. The only issues you'll have to worry about will be music... which you will lose. Also your contacts.
There are programs which will let you download from your ipod. I would link the program but i'm not sure if that's allowed. You can always just back up your itunes library to a external hard drive...
When everything is newly installed on your laptop. Plug in your iPhone and run iTunes. Authorize and then sync your info. If you're syncing with windows contacts remember to "merge" contacts when prompted.
I prefer to use my gmail account which seems to work well.
