iphone 3gs won't sync

i've uninstalled and reinstalled itunes several times and it still wont sync my iphone. i've also tried restoring my iphone and that didn't help either. my laptop which has windows xp doesnt detect it either. all it does when i connect is beep and start charging. ive tried using a different laptop and it works. please help.

did you try a different usb port?

so the issue is just with that particular laptop?

were you using the same cord when you tried on the other laptop?
