    Default Find My iPhone Question

    Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if you can get mobileme AFTER you've lost your iPhone?

I want to know if I can afford to just buy mobileme to use "Find my iPhone" once my iPhone has been lost.

    Thanks

No. You have to have your mobileme account info already inputted into the phone and the "find me" option turned on.

    Thanks for the quick response

Now what about this: I use my free 30 or 60 day that came with my macbook. Once the 30 days or 60 are done, i dont subscribe

then once my iphone goes lost, i buy it. will the settings still be there?

    I honestly doubt it.

And you have to remember, you would have to subscribe using the SAME account address as before or it wouldnt matter. And the chances of that working are slim.

    Do you have mobileme?
Is it worth it for just find my iphone?
If not, what are the other "convincing" features?

Ive used MobileMe for a while and like it alot. Its not cheap but here are the pros I like:

    1. Push email (yeah their are others)

    2. Push contacts - great, I never have to worry about losing contacts, even with a restore or new phone all I gotta do is put my account info in the phone and they are there.

    3. Calendar and Pics sync also.

    4. Integrates great with my Mac - obviously.

    5. Find me.

Anyways, depends on your needs and how much you use the features.

    Sounds pretty good
I got a question about the push email

I suppose it would only push your .mac address right?

I used to have hotmail, then got gmail in order to forward my emails to gmail to read on my iphone.

I dunno if i wanna add another email address

What are the chances of push notification added to gmail, or the rumored jailbroken faked push notifications coming soon?

Yeah I had an AOL account and phased it out. Dunno how/when/if gmail will catch up or if a push workaround will show.

And yeah its only gonna push your @me account (used to be .mac)

The biggest seller for me at first was the contacts over-air push sync. I run a business and my contacts are very important.

    Thanks for your help
I got one more question though

If i did the mobileme trial and got my email address to be [email protected], then once it expires, does that email get recycled into the system, or is it held for me forever?
Because if it is mine forever, then shouldnt my original plan work?

Four things. One you can never assume in this world. It just makes an *** out of you. So guessing if you buy mobile me after you lose it by using the same account is a bad plan. Two, your iPhone connects to Mobile Me if the subscription ends so does your service, it will need to be reactivated once you pay. Three why dream about losing your iPhone one would think if this technology to find your device is present one would try harder to safe guard their possessions. Lastly once you pop the SIM card out of the sucker you are SOL mobile me or not its gone and will not be found post restore and new SIM is popped in.
