I bought a GoPhone for $20 that came with a 3G SIM card and went online and activated it. But when I put it into the iPhone it shows no bars or sometimes "No Service". And I've even tried it in other places and it never changes.. Any help??? And if this isn't possible, how else can I get my iPhone 3G Prepaid?

Its a 16gb and has 2.2.1 jailbroken

Please help I'm really stuck here...

I have been using my iPhone 3G with my prepaid sim. It should work coz i just popped in my prepaid at&t sim card in the iphone and it just works. The iphone accepts all at&t sim cards - postpaid or prepaid.

Have you tried making a call with the prepaid sim? sometimes you need to use it first before it becomes fully activated. Or send a text. Wait a few days since you just recently activated it. Check also that its not in airplane mode. ;-)

I found out what the problem was. It was having trouble activating due to all the people activating their 3G S. I called Apple and they said wait a few hours or a day or two I did and now it works perfectly including MMS!

At&t said that i have to wait six months before i could switch my sim to another phone so can you please help!!!!

It's because if you buy the gophone that says it includes the bonus $15 airtime, the sim will be locked to that phone. You HAVE to get one without the airtime (unless you want to wait 6 months). I guess the only thing you could do I'd call 611 at night to get the overnight #. Call that number on another phone and make sure the sim is out of the gophone and tell AT&T that phone broke and ask them to unlock the sim so you can use it in another phone. Just try that and tell me what happens

To answer both the original question and yours, I'll try to be brief. I called customer service today because I have the same issue and they are useless, told me to go to an att store because they could not unlock them. When i got to the store they said that customer service was lying, so we called customer service/611 in the store and they said (dif rep) that I could get a new sim card in the store and that my balance would transfer. usually this costs 20 bucks, but because i made a big deal they did it for free. So to sum up

1. 611/ customer service is of no help
2. Stores can give you a new sim card unlocked, which should work in any phone,
3. Balance will transfer
4. Cost 0-20 depending on how much of a fuss you give them
5. last but not least dont tell them its an iphone, I told them it was a razor
