Putting and iphone 3g in a 2g casing.
Well, I must admit I hate the look of the 3g compared to the 2g, the 2g was so much more robust.
Now I was thinking of buying a broken 2g and taking it apart and placing the components from my 3g iphone into it.
How possible is this, is there a size difference that will stop me from doing it or is it still the same.
And if it is possible links to help full info pages would be grate.

iPhone 2G Size Dimensions: 115 x 61 x 11.6 milimetres
iPhone 3G Size Dimensions: 115.5 x 62.1 x 12.3 milimetres
I don't think you could change the cases, even though they are similar. If anybody things that their iDevice is bricked and are sure of it, the first question you need to ask is:
"Did you throw it against a wall?"

But the difference is mealy a mm or so, is there no room for movement in the iphone, even an ege to mother bored that could be trimmed down with no damage?

Somethings will get pushed down as well as come in contact with others which could be a problem.

I have never opened a 2G, only a 3G, so cant comment.
Ever since the release of the 3G with the plastic back i have wanted to know how a 2G runs with a 3G inside it.
Please post back results if you manage to do this, maybe hit up CPJR? ...The Original Autobot of MMiJesus couldn't turn into a fire engine

The main cage that holds the Digitizer and LCD it too wide to fit in the 2G case, I have already tried. Also, you would only end up getting worse reception with the metal 2G back anyway. Just stick with the plastic
