I've got the same problem; I'll post here if I figure it out.

edit: I've found several other people with the problem, all with no replies. This has been since approx Aug of '08. I'm going to assume they disabled the function maybe? Oddly though, when you type help, it's no in the list with a * (it says * denotes disabled). So.....hm.

thanks for the reply man.

Well i also didnt have apt-get in my Mac Terminal, so i installed fink from some site and now apt-get is available in my Mac Terminal, i think there should be the same trick for MobileTerminal as well. I think the definition of apt-get is not installed in the PATH variable.

Raz, for that upside down part I can help - just tilt it like you want to angle towards you, and it will flip. You can go sideways too, but it's more difficult to read, in my opinion.

waoo i have got it !!!.
thank GOD at last, i have got it.

Well someone else looking for this here is the solution if u are having an unknow command error while using apt.

Firmware 3.0 doesnt have this installed by default when u jailbreak it, so u need to install Aptitude from Cydia, and then if u use apt-get command in Terminal, BOOM, it ll work !!!

Installing Aptitude and Erica Utilities worked perfectly for me on OS 3.0, and I could run the apt-get command in Mobile Terminal successfully...
