iphone 3.0 mms animated gif

Hello i have a iphone 3g on t-mobile and MMS is working fine i am able to receive pictures and video but when i get a animated gif it only shows the first frame. I have tried saving the pictures to the photo application but that doesnt work and i have tried to forward the animated gif to my email from the messaging application using my email address as the contact but the gif still wont go past first frame. Does anybody know of anyway to get around this?
