3GS Voice Control Not working

It looks like I am the first to post this anywhere on the net.
I was so pumped about having voice control on my iPhone 3GS!
Well, it does not understand me.
I say "play Weezer", and it plays Def Tones.
If I say "Call Vaughan", it calls the CONSTABLE!!
When I say (again) "Call Vaughan", it says that no cellular network is available.
I have 5 FULL bars of service & FULL Wifi !!

I can not find how to TEACH this 3GS to understand my voice.

Does anyone know what to do?

I'm having the exact same problem. It totally plays the wrong song no matter how clearly I try to speak. Not accent---I'm from the east.

Can't get the IPOD voice to work so I haven't even tried making a call.

Wonder why it's not working for us?

it does some freaky stuff on me as well so I think apple needs to push an update on the terminology and recognition.

I was having the same issue, bit i figured it out. instead of saying play weezer. say artist weezer.MIne goes all random if i say play, if i say artist it gets it right.

Try READING the suggestions in the background. You have to say "play artist wheezer" or "play songs by wheezer"

RTFM or in this case RTFB.

Using the word "Artist" instead of the word "Play" seems to work. Thanks for the tip!

Try UNDERSTANDING that a few words in the background (totaling like 10 or so) is not the manual and apple has produced no print on this voice control yet. I already know of ten commands you won't find.

You can also say "play songs by weezer"

I also noticed that you have to wait a couple of seconds after the "beep" before you say something.

The phone in English UK didn't understand me very well for some reason. I switched it to English US and now have about a 70% success rate \o/ .
