JB'n 2.2.1 to 3.0

so ive got a jailbroken 3g iphone on 2.2.1 and am now thinking to update to 3.0

how would i go about doing this and what would happen to the phones content?

will it all get wiped? how can i back up the contacts?

any help would be good.

hi,if u want to go to 3.0, restore in itunes first(this will put 3.0 on ur iphone) and then run redsnow which will then jailbreak it.

and yes everything will be wiped (calenders, notes, contacts, apps)

Well, actually if you want you can ssh into the jailbroken 2.2.1 and copy the calender, phone, voicemail, sms, and contacts( not called contacts though in ssh) folders under the Library section of your phone. Just google ssh for help. Hope this helps...


oh later when you have hacked up to 3.0 just paste folders and it should work...

backup your contents, pictures etc...u can use gmail to backup your contacts and resync them after u've updated...
