I don't know if anyone else has noticed this on 3.0, but if you start a new message and start typing your contact's name and selecting it from the drop down list, then do it again to start a group sms, the title of the message suddenly changes to group MMS. However if you just type your first contact's name and selecting it as above then press the + key to add your next contact, it will keep it as a "New Message" instead of "New MMS".

I believe it is actually sending it as an MMS in the first example too!
