might be a weird question but can i secretly track another iphone

ok i've got another phone on my ATT iphone plan. it's a family plan and I know att offers the family map stuff... but i don't want to do that because it sends a text to the phone.

So this is the set up..

ATT

Family plan with two iphones (Mine and theirs)

I do have access to the phone to load any software i might need to...

I just don't want a text message sent to the phone when I am tracking, a confirmation text is fine when i set up.

What about MobleMe and Find My iPhone? Does that necessarily send a text message when locating your phone? I wasn't aware of that if it did so.
