Default Buying an iphone 3gs in O2 UK stores?

i bought an iphone 2g when they first came out and i paid £270 and took the phone home and had to activate it on itunes but just unlocked it instead, can i do this with the 3gs? i looked on o2's site and they quote £180+ for a 3gs on one contract and £87 on another contract so what i'm basically saying is can i go into 02, buy the phone for the £80+ price and then go home and unlock it and put my simplicity sim in

Nope. You can get the 3Gs for the pay as you go prices.

The 32gb is £538, yes, twice the price of your 2G and it is not unlockable yet so your stuck on O2.

For £550 you can get a factory unlocked one from France.

Your simplicity sim will work on a payg handset and it's what my dad does and what I plan to do when contracts over
