300 KB/s download speeds on 3G
Hi all,
I hope someone can answer a question of mine. Lately when I download from ********** im getting speeds of over 200kb/s a few times i even topped 300kb/s although this is awesome and I never use wifi know as its just too slow. I ve also noticed that youtube loads much faster on 3g then wifi.
I was wondering is it possible at the moment to be getting this sort of speeds on 3g. From my friends Ive noticed that the ones with contracted iphones are constantly high on download speeds wherease the ones on PAYG are slower.
Any explanation will be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi i am on vodafone, ill test the speedtest tonight as at my work 3g is very very low.
I think some people are getting the wrong info, im getting 300 kilo byes per second, thats like a 6mb broadband line, i know wifi is rubbish on iphone because of the rubbish wifi chip in the phone, but i didnt think these sort of speeds were available on 3g at the mo.

kbs = kilo bit per second
kBs = kilo Bytes per second (IIRC)
Are you saying 200 - 300 Kilobytes (= 1600 - 2400 Kilo bytes per second)?
That's fast for 3G but not impossible - which country are you in?
On my home WiFi I get about 8000kbs (1MBs) which is less than half of what I get on my laptop. He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

On O2 round here you are lucky to get 500k! O2's network is theoretically capable of 3.6Mbs but if you are getting over 2000kbs you are certainly in the minority and very lucky!
My upload speeds do vary up to the high 200s but I'm not really worried about that.
That's the highest I've seen on AT&T
I'm very happy with my speeds but it's always nice to see faster - anyone else beat these speeds? He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.
