Sim Card - Nasty Rumor?

I heard a rumor that Apple has made the sim card for the iPhone internal...which means you cannot remove it. This is very bad news if it's true. Having the sim card slot means that you can actually use a backup phone when you're going to the beach, etc. and don't want your iPhone full of sand.

Does anyone know if this rumor is true? I really hope its not!!! However, I could see Apple's reasoning for this (Once you get an iPhone you cannot easily switch it out).

Well good for them, they can make it so that only people who purchased iPhones through Apple or ATT can only use the iPhone.

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple created the iPhone with an internal SIM rather than a removeable one. I think they want to grab this market by the horns and run with it and that's one way of garnishing more revenue.

But who knows, I suppose we'll find out soon enough.

I just hope it has a sim slot for protective purposes. i mean, i'm going to get it either way, just cause it looks so awesome. but i'd like to be able to take out the sim if i'm going someplace that is not phone friendly and use a junky backup phone.

I think this one started from the fact that all the pictures make it look like there isn't one, and someone probably ran with it. Either way, glad to see this has been debunked, that would have been annoying not to have one.

Either way anyone can use the phone. But as far as protecting it while at the "beach" and such yea that would suck with an internal. As much as you all worry about it I do not believe it will be internal.
