cydia update questions
hey guys, i have an unlocked and jailbroken 1st gen 4gb iPhone running on version 2.2 running on the T-Mobile network. now, i know if i update the iPhone it will not be unlocked and jailbroken anymore, but when i open Cydia, i get a message saying "3 Essential updates, one or more essential packages are currently out of date. if these upgrades are not performed you are likely to encouner errors." then i have 3 choices, update essential, complete upgrade, or ignore (temporarly).
my question is, if i update Cydia, will it re-lock my phone?
im new to this and could use some help, so thanks guys and gals!

I'm running the same exact phone setup as you... Go ahead and update all.. Just watch out that you don't update springjumps if you have this cydia app... I updated springjumps and now they can't be moved on my springboard... Don't know if anyone has found a solution for this.
Other than that I haven't had any problems...

ok little pointer.
you can update anything on your iphone or itouch and not worry about ruining your jailbreak.
its when you go about updating VIA itunes that you get the problem and only then its if you're updating firmware
So to make that clear. YOU can update ANYTHING ( EXCEPT on itunes where it says update firmware)without a problemBeing an i can be a lot of pressure. you have to live right up to the small point.
