Need Help with Friends Iphone???

Hi all, I jail broke a friends 3G Iphone about 6 months ago. He called me today, and asked if I could fix it. He said it will only let you use 911. He said they have tryed to restore it in Itunes, but it would not work. He went on to tell me he have never set up an Itunes account, because he does not have a credit card. Can I restore it with my Itunes? Can I use my simms card? if so, will it mess my card up? Anyone have any ideal how I can restore his phone?

In order to help we need more information.

What firmware was on the phone? What firmware did your friend try to restore to? Was the phone running on an authorized carrier (ie: ATT)?

I am sorry, he just bought the phone when I jailbroke it, I think it was at filmware 2.01, he is with ATT. I suppose he was just trying to get it to work, so he was connecting to Itunes to get the update that in available.

Go to ATT!? It is jailbroke, with a pineapple on the screen. He did not update it, after it was jailbroke, it was never updated again.

Put the phone in DFU mode, and install 2.2.

Zwayne, thanks, how do I install 2.2? I know I need to download 2.2, but than what?

Like I said put the phone in DFU mode, then (shift + click restore PC), and then find the 2.2 custom ipsw click on it an let it install. Then set the phone up as a new one. And then the phone can be jailbroke & unlock by yellowsnow if that's what he wants to do.

If hes with ATT he can skip the unlock with Yellowsn0w.
