Lock button broken, still jailbreakable?
The sleep/wake button on my iphone is broken, and as of now it is legit. I want to jailbreak so i can dl ihome, which i heard, can lock/sleep/turn off the ipod.
However, i have a couple of questions.
How am i supposed to jailbreak if I cant press the home button to force it into DFU mode?
How do i turn it on? ( I guess i could live with it on always)
And since i got it from a friend, and i have a ATT sim card with a data plan, will i have to pay anything extra?
Would i need to unlock? What benefits would that provide me?
Also, once jailbroken(if possible), is there some sort of toggle that i could use to make the silent switch the lock/power button?

My sleep button has also broken off/if i sticka biro in the gap there is a cricular metal button that you can push to get the same effect. Would be able to do tht to get into DFU mode - but if its legit at the moment why not take it back to apple?

The warranty has long since expired xD

there's a program called sbsettings, which when you swipe your finger across the status bar, a menu comes down.
you can get an add on to it to allow you to lock your phone.

First-gen or 3g?? Either way you can replace the flex cable/headphone jack/power button assembly. The part for either is pretty cheap and IMO not that hard to swap out.
Personally, I would do that before living without it.
