You could just use the standard 2.20 - that way you don't have to worry, 2.2.1 doesn't really offer anything.

You would probably get a 1013 error if you just tried restoring to 2.20 but if you enter DFU mode and restore from there it should be fine as you haven't upgraded your BB download 2.20 from here
