Does xGPS etc run up a big bill?
I've got a 3G iPhone and installed xGPS.
Want to know if this application will run up a big bill? How does it work because the iPhone doesn't have a proper GPS built in like a blackberry does it? Just a bit worried to use it and then get a shock at the end of the month!
Thanks
Matt

Or you can download the maps on your computer then transfer them to your phone

If you download the maps from your computer then transfer them to your phone there is no data charge as long as you you don't go outside the map area

But who has an iPhone without unlimited data?
He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

I live in South Africa, there's not such thing as "unlimited data". Even my ADSL cap is 3GB.
So I can just download the maps via xGPS on my mac and sync with my iPhone and it uses the GPS and not the interenet??
Thanks for the replies fellas

In a word - yes!
Provided you don't stray outside of the area you download it's not a problem.
What do you pay for data in SA and what do you get for it? If you don't mind me asking. He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.
