Thread: Unlocked iPhone

Just wondering if there is anyone who would buy an iPhone in the USm unlock it and ship it to Australia for me.
I've been checking the unlocked iPhones here on eBay and they want over a $1000 Aussie for them. Over twice the price.
Or ... could I buy one from the online Apple store and activate it here without signing up to AT&T then use the unlocking procedures as per instructions.
I believe you must have WiFi for this but I am not sure about this in Australia. We use Vodafone as our carrier and have web access but is this WiFi?
Need some input and info before I will shed that sort of $$$'s have it shipped but be unable to use it.I "DO NOT" use Windoze.

i use the wifi way as it works everytime. takes 20-30 min and is easy to do if you follow the instructions.
hate for you to pay for a phone it gets sent over and customs confiscates it.

Customs wont confiscate a iphone...They have better things to do. If they do confiscate it, it will be because they are on there way to unlock and use it for there selves.

NO customs cannot take a gift in Australia only if it is dangerous goods, illegal or organic.
I am just concerned about the WiFi is that the same as what we called unwired over here ?
Is that the same system that we get our internet connection on our mobiles ie 3G which is what we use here now.
If that doesn't work with the iPhone then I wouldn't be able to unlock it here would I ?I "DO NOT" use Windoze.
