Is there a way of determaning a service provider?
My question is as followed; my best friend got his phone from a person off of kijiji who told him it was on the Rogers network. He then took the phone home hooked it to I tunes updated the firmware to 2.2.1 and the baseband to 02.30.03. Brought the phone to me because he couldn’t get it to activate, I hooked it up to iTunes with a Rogers’s sim in it and nothing. So I just laughed, and explained that the phone was probably unlocked using yellowsn0w, and now since he has upgraded to the new baseband he has rendered the phone unusable due to the fact there the was currently no known way to downgrade baseband. (Correct me if I’m wrong, and also is there a time frame on the yellowsn0w update?). I ran it though quickpwn and activated and jailbroke the phone but still nothing. So after all that the question is… Is there a way to find out what service provider the phone has, or originated from? I only ask this because if he chooses not to wait for one of you geniuses to come up with a way to fix this problem, he would like to try and recoop some of his money by selling it to someone in the region where the service is provided, and have enough to buy another working phone. also just a little question for me is there a way when i post a question in this forum, and if someone responds to it, it will send me an e mail?
Thanks for your time in advanced Wilson.

I'm being dead serious when I say this, if it weren't for phonics I would have never figured that word out. I kid you not I literally sounded it out. (for future reference it's determining. You were close, but that "a" really throws itIs there a way of determaning a service provider?
)
Anyway Wilson, It is inconvenient to wait, but that's exactly what you have to do.... wait for the devs to unlock the baseband. It will happen, but it always takes a few weeks. Until then you'll just have to use CFW and an unlock SIM if those are still in use.Screw #Winning, I'm #Juanning
