ssh into ipod touch not working

i changed the root password on the ipod from alpine to something else. now is the password to ssh into the ipod still alpine or the password i made? ive tried both when trying to ssh and i get a permission denied message.

Bummer, are you sure its not something else? other then the password giving you this message.
