iPhone 3.0 O2 UK MMS + Tethering - How to enable

I found this ipcc file. It contains the correct carrier settings for the iPhone for the new 3.0 firmware.

files.me.com/baker.rk/dvah0m

Password is: mmi

Plug your iPhone into iTunes, and with

Windows:
Hold Shift + Click Update

Mac:
Hold Alt + Click Update

Locate the ipcc file then click ok.

It will take about 5 seconds to update.

Then restart your iPhone.

You can now share photos via MMS.

And if you go to

Settings>General>Network then Internet Tethering is an option.

There was also a lag before when going to Settings>General>Network, there is now no lag whatsoever.

PLEASE NOTE

This is for the UK only.

Just tested and sent an MMS fine, however, could not recieve one properly.

For other countries, here is some info on building your own ipcc file:

gist: 81465 - GitHub

maybe we could get a little source of countries vs. carrier ipcc files?

To get tethering to work you must have the 3.0 SDK installed on your Mac.

And it looks like O2 have stopped all MMS support Tethering still works though (with the 3.0 sdk installed)

SDK only needed for USB tethering

You only need the SDK to use the USB cable for tethering. Bluetooth tethering just works on its own.

Reeko: did you have MMS working with Beta 1 at all? I never had it working because my iPhone is on a business tariff. My colleague's personal tariff iPhone allowed MMS right away without any hassle. O2 was willing to enable MMS on my mobile number if I could provide our account password. I didn't know what it was at the time. Our Accounts team have thus far ignored my request to get it enabled.

What I really need to know is if the new beta 7A259 kills tethering for either USB or bluetooth and stops MMS being an option. Has anyone that had these working updated to 7A259?

I had used this ipcc http://drop.io/o2ukipcc I'm not sure if it's identical to the one you've used.

Thanks in advance.

I wish I could hit thanks to you but I'm afraid I went ahead and updated. Everything is working great already for me. I didn't even have to go through a Restore this time. Updating worked as though it were a 2.x update. I seem to be able to send MMS too now. Although I'm yet to receive an MMS because my MMS-capable friends are taking their time sending to me.

At beta 1 i could send MMS, but recieving them was the sam old: log onto www.o2.com/m/ with your password stuff.

I never got tethering to work at all. My bluetooth has been acting weird ever since installing the beta. My macbook and iphone cannot find eachother. it's very weird.

Now with beta 2, MMS does not work at all and still the same old story with tethering.

Can your friend on the personal tariff still MMS or tether?

I also restored to the beta 2 instead of updating.

I made one myself (o2-UK Payandgo carrier bundle)

Ok, I made one myself but it was very hard so if anybody needs an o2-UK carrier profile for Payandgo, I will accept a donation of £2.50 (I promise; no scam) through paypal to joedcurtis@ntlworld.com and in the comment leave a message identifying Payandgo or paymonthly and also the email You want it to be sent to. I will be happyto help!

PS:
I took days trying to find one on the Internet but I couldn't so I took 2 weeks building one myself and now mms and tethering works great. To enable receiving mms just give o2 a call and ask them to enable mms, no problem!

I need payandgo ipcc :D

Dude above me why are you charging ?

The iphone community does so much for you and you want £2.50 for making a ipcc. I understand it may have took you a while but still. Why be so stingy ?
