    Default Error 9
I upgraded to 3.0 now I want to downgrade to 2.2.1

I have googled how and found many results all saying the same thing.

    How to Downgrade iPhone 3G / 2G 3.0 back to 2.2.1 | iHackintosh

The only problem is I get Error 9 when trying to install 2.2.1 again.

    Any ideas?

Are you in DFU mode when you restore?

Try rebooting your computer and using a different USB port.

I had that happen a few times then I ended up using Pwnage.

    Try this:

After restoring and you see the error 1013 ( that is a good thing) dont touch any of those pop up error boxes or close iTunes or touch your iphone until Quickpwn tells you to, and directly open up Quickpwn and try again. If that doesnt work you can use Pwnage in the same fashion like i did.

Okay I'm trying to restore it again so it comes up with error 1013. I will post the results when it's done.

Okay so I just did everything I could to get it back to 2.2.1 and I finally had success. I recorded it all using ScreenFlow it's processing on YouTube and will post here it once done. It's in HD btw

    YAY!!! my phone is fixed.
