wifi greyed out help

having the problem on 2.2 wifi is greyed out the only thing that will (kind of) sort it is if i plug it into the wall with the charger, put it into duf mode and quickly do a restore wifi still doesn't work but it says not connected, can someone please help me?

I'm confused... first you say your wifi is greyed out... then you say you restore and it's not greyed out anymore and just says not connected.

Sorry it's not greyed out but when I click the blue arrow next to the network it's blank ie ip address, router, etc. When I switch off phone and switch it back on it's greyed out again

If a complete DFU restore doesn't fix it then it sounds like hardware/antenna failure and you'll need to get a new phone or repair yours.
