Need some trade advice plz

I posted my unlocked Blackberry Bold on craigslist and got a hit from a guy wanting to trade me his iphone 3g straight up. He sent pics and it looks fine. he emailed me from the phone so it works. Here is the problem, he upgraded it to 2.2.1. I know this upgraded the baseband to 2.30. I have Tmobile of course. Should I trade and hope for the unlock software to be developed?

I have another iphone to use, 2g so I'd have a working phone.

Muh, for what the bold is going for on ebay, might be in your better interest to sell it and buy a 3g. Without the updated FW and baseband.

Cause you never know how long the wait will be.

And I wouldnt trade for an 8gigger.....only a 16.

could you not restore on itunes by pressing shift and restore then download the firmware you want ie 2.2 and use that to restore it? when it asks you where to restore from.
or maybe not? dont try it, just a thought unless anyone else can verify

^No, that wont downgrade the baseband...which is the problem. Actually, doing so would cause you to have no service because the baseband would mismatch the firmware.

I was running my 3g with downgraded 2.2 software on the 2.30 baseband I had service, although that doesn't help with unlocking it for another network. So...pointless post I suppose. lol.

Oh well. Would getting it then trading for another one be worth the effort?

That would be a hard trade....iphone to iphone.

If it were me, unless you find someone willing to trade straight up for what you need.....

I would just sell it and then buy the iphone.
