First time traveling with Iphone

Hey everyone i just got a quick question, i am planning on going over sea's this week and i want to take my Iphone with me, if i remove my sim card would i still be able to use the phone such as, wifi (if available) games and check google earth (with its offline mode) and if there are any other things that i can do without a sim card.

You can do everything but make/receive calls. As long as your on WIFI. Once the phone is activated it will stay that way even without the simcard.
