Transfer Contacts from iphone to computer

I was using my iphone with a hackintosh. I screwed up my install and have had to start using XP. I have contacts on my iphone which i need to import to gmail. Is there a way to grab the contacts off the phone and transfer to the pc?

When you say contacts do you mean in your address book? If so you can select to sync your iPhone address book with windows address book through iTunes then all the contacts data will be synced with your pc. Hope this helps

Yes in my address book. Will it be a problem with syncing, since it is formatted for a mac?

So i could just ssh the contacts

You can't. Those are database files. You don't need to open them - just back them up to someplace safe. When you need them, copy them back to the paths above and you should have all of your contacts.

This is not the best method for backing up contacts, but it works.

I ssh my address book from my iphone to my computer and once i restored my phone, I tried copying it back to my iphone but it wont recognize it. It worked with my notes, my sms messages but i wont work with the address book. I don't know what else to do, i don't want to loose my ton of contacts, especially having the files right there. Anybody has any idea how can i get my iphone to recognize it?

google sync has an application that you store all your contacts on their server when you change or add on your phone or computer it will automaticly update the other...check it out been using it for months. well worth it

and with most google stuff its FREE!
