09-13-2007, 06:45 AM #1Howto: Speed up your home iPhone wi-fi
Just thought I'd share a cool tip from DL.TV (the old TechTV guys). Check out OpenDNS.com (it's totally free) and follow the instructions (under Getting Started) to input their 2 DNS servers into your home wi-fi router.
Once you input the two new DNS addresses and save the settings, you'll need to restart your iPhone, but once you restart it, it'll surf the web much faster. I wish I could to the same with the AT&T EDGE settings, but I couldn't find them available under my iPhone settings.
This will speed up the DNS lookups (much faster than your ISP's) for any system on your network (once you restart the PC or Mac) and I was impressed by the speed.
It has additional settings for content filtering if you create an account, but it's not at all necessary.
