Lightbulb BUG SOLVED How to remove red dot on iphone after it is unlocked ;-)
HERE IS THE SOLUTION FOR REMOVING THE RED DOT ON THE SCREEN AND SELECTING THE CARRIER WITH NO PROBLEMS..........

AND EVEN REMOVING THE MESSAGE SAYING

"PLEASE ACTIVATE YOUR SIM CONNECT ITUNES"

    AFTER PROCESSING THE SIM UNLOCKED

    -->

DOWNLOAD THE FOLLOWING FILE FROM MegaUpload

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IG5UHUWE

AFTER DOWNLOADING THE FILE EXTRACT IT ON THE DESKTOP

In iBrickr, click Files, and on the iPhone screen to the right, navigate to

    /usr/libexec/

    upload the file named

    /lockdownd

When it's done, restart your phone, and you will see that it goes right to

the home screen without asking for activation.

(even the lockdownd is present in /usr/libexec/ directory just overwrite it and make sure to make backup of that file in your documents or desktop)

AND YOUR PHONE WILL SHOW THE CARRIER WORKING AND RED BUTTON GONE

    this worked for me....thanks

Uploaded the file using iBrickr, then restarted the phone, but the Phone icon still has that little red dot on the top right of it.

    Default Red Dot
I strongly advise not to download the file from the link above. Once installed it will freeze your phone making it very slugish. You will need to do a factory restore after installing the file mentioned above. Just get the file from a reliable source.

This question is asked and answered in the Unlock F.A.Q. The lockdownd file does NOT have anything to do with the "red dot," which is in fact the voicemail indicator. The lockdownd file makes it so when you put a new SIM in, you don't have to activate each time. So you can easily swap SIM's on the fly.

Now, if you DO want to get rid of the "red dot" above your phone icon - that's easy enough, too. Open up the phone app, and click Voicemail. Listen to all your voicemail messages. Then the indicator will go away. It will pop back up if you restart your phone or if you get a voicemail, although it will not say how many voicemail you have.

I do not recommend downloading or doing any of this, because I just did and now am about half way through having to restore my phone due to it being unable to boot back up. so don't download it....
