    Default Passcode lock...

I just realized that even with the password on (General>Passcode Lock> ON) I can just plug the phone into the computer and sync it right up in iTunes, which completely negates the idea of the password... is this just possible on known iTunes or is it really this dumb?

it shouldnt sync without you putting in the password. also if you plugged it into a new machine it would have to register it with itunes and i dont know if that would work with the passcode on

Do you think it syncs because it's synced with my laptop already... iTunes store, remote, etc.? It does it regardless of passcode lock being on/off and I do make sure the phone goes into locked state after 1 min...

I've been curious about this too, so I did some googling and some reading. From what I gather, thats exactly right. Because your information is saved to your computer, you should just be able to sync it to undo the lock (if someone attempts to enter a password too many times, it locks up, in which case you have to sync it to unlock it). However, I believe cricketlang is also correct in his assertion pertaining to syncing on a different computer; but, even if someone stole your iphone, they could still dfu-mode it, and restore it...kind of a bummer.
