    Default Cracked screen on 3G

    Folks,

My friend has an 8gig 3G Iphone which he dropped and the screen has several cracks on it. The phone still works perfectly and shows no signs of other damage with everything ok--just the screen.

I have spotted several screens for sale but others with a digitizer, would this be required and what does the digitizer actually do? Im hoping he can get away with just the screen as its much cheaper. Any help would be grateful especially from someone who knows the workings of the 3G. tHANKS IN ADVANCE.

Digitizer is the part of the phone that detects touches on the Lcd screen. If a phone needs a new digitizer then it's safe to assume that the phone is not working.I mean if your touch screen is working well, maybe you don't need to buy a new digitizer.Try,if the glass will be work well with your old digitizer or not?But imo,you should buy both of them...
