Default anybody actually mod the casing of the iphone 2g to fit non apple headphones

I've got an $1100 set of earbuds that I use as an audio engineer,
I'm not doing the razorblade cut to the jack on the headphones...

but I was wondering if its possible to take the iphone 2g casing and grind away a little bit around the headphone jack to enlarge the spot where headphones plug in so that any headphone fits

Why don't you buy the 3$ adaptor on ebay. Its a 5" cable that is suited for the iphone with the female to accept your 1/8" jack input from your headphones?

Yeah, it would much more than a case mod. The headphone jack and everything its attached to inside the phone would have to be moved.
